Step 1: Initial Consultation

  • The first step is to schedule an appointment with a dentist to determine your general and oral health and evaluate whether you are a good candidate for dental implants.

  • During this consultation, your dentist will provide an individualised treatment plan with schedules and timeframes.

Step 2: Initial Consultation

  • After the initial consultation, the dentist will schedule an appointment for implant placement.

  • During this appointment, the dentist will insert the titanium implant into the jawbone where your new tooth will be placed.

  • After implant placement, you will be given time to heal, and the implant will be allowed to bond with the bone for around 3 months, depending on the individual.

  • If required, the dentist can provide you with a temporary tooth (charges for temporary teeth are not included in implant prices and will be quoted separately).

Need A Dental Implant? Here Are Your Options

Three dental implant surgery treatments can significantly improve your life: Implant Crowns, Implant Bridges, and New Teeth on 4.

Implant Crowns

An implant crown is like a new tooth attached to your jawbone. It looks like a natural tooth and fills the gap where your old tooth was. The crown is the part you see and can be made to look just like your other teeth. It can be made from different materials like porcelain, ceramic, gold, or a mix of these.

Implant crowns work like natural teeth; they’re a great way to replace missing teeth. So, if you’re missing a tooth, don’t worry. Just ask your dentist about getting an implant crown!

Implant Bridges

A dental bridge or abutment is a tool that can help fix the gaps caused by missing teeth. It works like a bridge that connects two sides of a river. This implant treatment has a bridge supported by implants that are attached to your jaw instead of being attached to your other teeth. The crowns, which are the visible parts of your teeth, are then attached to the implants to fill in the gaps and hold everything in place. This way, you can have a complete smile and be able to eat and normally talk again.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are dental implants, and how do they work?

Dental implants dentistry is where artificial tooth roots are surgically placed into the jaw bone to provide a stable base for replacement teeth. They can be placed on the upper or lower portion of the gums. They are made of titanium, which fuses with the bone to create a permanent anchor for the replacement teeth. Once the implants have fused with the bone, a crown, bridge, or denture can be attached to the implant to create a natural-looking, functional smile.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

The ideal candidate for dental implants is someone who is missing one or more teeth, has healthy gums and sufficient bone density in the jaw to support the implant. However, a thorough evaluation by a dental implant specialist is required to determine if someone is a good candidate for the procedure.

What are the benefits of dental implants compared to other tooth replacement options?

Dental implants offer many advantages over other tooth replacement options, including a more natural look and feel, improved speech and chewing function, greater comfort and stability, and better long-term oral health. They also do not require the alteration of surrounding teeth, as is the case with dental bridges, and do not need to be removed for cleaning and maintenance, as is the case with dentures.

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants can last decades or even a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing and flossing daily, can help ensure the longevity of dental implants.

Are dental implants painful?

The dental implant procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia, which numbs the area and minimizes any pain or discomfort. However, patients may opt for sedation as well. Patients may experience mild discomfort and swelling after the procedure, but this can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication and ice packs. Most patients report that the discomfort is minimal and short-lived.

What is the success rate for dental implants?

The success rate for dental implants is generally very high, with reported success rates ranging from 95% to 98%. However, the success rate can depend on several factors, such as the patient's oral health, the quality and quantity of the jawbone, the type of implant used, and the skill and experience of the dentist performing the procedure. Sometimes, the success rate may be lower if complications occur during the healing process or if the patient does not properly care for the implant after placement. It's important to discuss your individual situation with a qualified dental professional to determine your specific risk factors and the expected success rate for your dental implant procedure.
